14 & Muslim
14 & Muslim explores how ideas of diversity and tolerance play out in the Canadian classroom by following three students through the challenging process of transitioning from their private Islamic elementary school to a public Ontario high school.
IMPACT HIGHLIGHTS
Ring Five designed a youth engagement strategy for 14 & Muslim that involved special facilitated screenings for students and teachers at Greater Toronto Area middle and high schools during Islamic Heritage Month in 2018. Ring Five oversaw the creation and promotion of the film’s Educators’ Guide and the management of subsidized screening licences. We also conceptualized and orchestrated a special public engagement event at the Isabel Bader Theatre (Toronto) with a panel discussion entitled “Combating Islamophobia in Schools”.
Ring Five secured funding from the Inspirit Foundation for 14 & Muslim’s Impact Campaign and formed a core partnership with the National Council of Canadian Muslims and the Tesselate Foundation. In 2019 we took the initiative to Ottawa with additional support from the Olive Tree Foundation, and Canadian Heritage. Impact Highlight Videos for all initiatives can be seen here.
